Gender has become a phantasm. However, not in the ancient Greek sense, no god-sent miracle, no multisexual prophet, but in the psychoanalytical sense of the word: the imagined, the threatening, the other. In the Christian-authoritarian world, gender is painted as a shadow government or a mental illness, as Western decadence, an exotic fetish, a typographic sign - whatever fits the agenda. “ur gender / is so cool / can i lick it” tears gender from this projection and redraws it, quoting Daft Punk, Judith Butler or Charli xcx, as something real, physical, (in)graspable.
